10 Months of Kitchen Herbalism, Medicine Making & Seasonal Living

September 10, 2026 – Summer Solstice 2027

There comes a point when herbalism stops being something you're learning and quietly becomes part of the way you live. You begin making tea without reaching for a recipe. You keep jars of herbs beside the kettle because you use them often. You know what to reach for when your family needs a little extra care. Your kitchen slowly becomes an apothecary, your garden becomes a teacher, and the changing seasons begin shaping the way you nourish yourself.

That is the journey I want to invite you into.

The Herbal Year is a ten-month apprenticeship designed for women who want to bring herbalism into everyday life. Not to become clinical herbalists, but to become confident home herbalists—women who know how to nourish themselves, care for their families, make beautiful medicines, and create a home rooted in the wisdom of the seasons.

This isn't a program about memorizing hundreds of herbs. It's about learning a handful of plants deeply. It's about slowing down enough to notice your own body again.

It's about making medicine with your own hands, gathering with other women each month, and discovering that some of life's greatest transformations happen through small, consistent practices repeated over time.

Over the course of ten months, we'll move through the seasons together, learning one step at a time. Each month you'll receive a beautifully designed field guide, gather live with our community three times, make seasonal herbal preparations, build your kitchen apothecary, and deepen your relationship with the plants growing around you.

By the Summer Solstice, you won't simply know more about herbs. You'll have lived with them.

You'll have brewed the teas, infused the oils, filled your shelves with medicines, cooked nourishing meals, written in the margins of your workbooks, and created rhythms that continue long after the apprenticeship comes to an end.

Every Month Includes

Three Live Gatherings

Medicine Making Workshop

A hands-on class where we'll prepare seasonal herbal remedies together in our own kitchens.

Kitchen Table Lecture & Discussion

A deeper teaching focused on the month's theme, featured herbs, and practical kitchen herbalism, followed by plenty of time for conversation and questions.

Tea Circle

A relaxed gathering where we slow down, share tea, ask questions, celebrate what we're making, and learn from one another.

Your Monthly Field Guide

Every month you'll receive a beautifully designed workbook to print or use digitally.

Each guide includes:

  • A personal letter from Jess
  • The monthly seasonal theme

Our Journey Together

September

RETURN- September is where we begin to slow down after summer and return to our homes, our kitchens, our bodies, and the simple rhythms that make us feel well.

October

ROOT-October brings us more deeply into the kitchen and into the digestive system. We begin understanding how herbs can share similar actions while having completely different energetics.

November

TEND-November turns toward the household. We begin building the small, useful family apothecary we want available before someone needs it.

December

RECEIVE-December intentionally becomes quieter. Rather than adding more to our lives, we study the herbs and practices that help us soften, sleep, restore, and come back into ourselves.

January

NOURISH-January will not be about detoxing, restriction, or becoming a different person. We begin the year by asking what our bodies need more of.

February

Heart- By February, we've lived with herbs long enough to begin looking at them differently. This month moves more deeply into energetics, constitution, tissue states, and formulation.

March

AWAKEN-Spring brings us outside again. We begin meeting fresh plants, eating greens, learning wild foods, and working with lymphatics.

April

GROW-April moves us into the garden and into deep work with nervines.

May

MAKE- May is our deepest medicine-making month. By now the plants are familiar enough that we can focus more deeply on extraction, formulation, and craft.

June

BECOME

We will complete our apprenticeship together at the Summer Solstice with a live gathering to celebrate everything we've learned and the community we've built.

Is This For You?

This apprenticeship is for the woman who wants to...

  • Feel more confident caring for herself and her family with herbs.
  • Build a beautiful kitchen apothecary one season at a time.
  • Learn herbalism without feeling overwhelmed.
  • Understand the why behind the herbs she uses.
  • Cook with herbs, not just make remedies.
  • Slow down and reconnect with the rhythms of nature.
  • Gather with other women who value simple, intentional living.
  • Create a home filled with nourishment, beauty, and practical herbal wisdom.

I won't be teaching you how to open an herbal practice or become a consulting herbalist. I teach mothers, grandmothers and caregivers how to create herbal medicine in their own kitchens. The women who want to know how to care for themselves and the people they love with confidence and common sense.

Keeping Our Circle Small

Over the last few years, our community has grown far beyond anything I ever imagined, and I am deeply grateful for every woman who has found her way here.

But one thing has never changed. My classes have always been intimate.

I want to know your name. I want to answer your questions. I want our Tea Circles to feel like friends gathering around a kitchen table, not strangers watching a webinar.

Because of that, enrollment will be intentionally limited.

I would rather teach a small circle of women well than thousands from a distance.

If you've taken one of my classes before, you know that's how I teach, and it's exactly how I want The Herbal Year to feel.
